A Ambedkar Global Federation (AGF) exists with the sole purpose of promoting the social, political, and philosophical ideology inspired by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, one of India’s most influential thinkers and reformers. The Ambedkarite ideology is not just a set of ideas, it is a movement, a worldview, and for many, a way of life.
As an Ambedkarite in Australia, we are building a new path to uplift, support, and develop every Ambedkarite to their fullest potential. We vow to ensure that AGF will always be:
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar (1891–1956), fondly known as Babasaheb, was a visionary jurist, economist, social reformer, and chief architect of India’s Constitution. Rising from oppression, he became a global symbol of justice and equality, dedicating his life to eradicating caste discrimination and fighting for the rights of Dalits, women, and marginalized groups
In 1956, he embraced Buddhism, leading millions in a historic movement toward dignity and spiritual freedom. His legacy and call to “Educate, Agitate, Organise” continue to inspire movements for equality worldwide.
The Ambedkarite movement in Australia has been steadily growing for more than two decades, led by pioneer families who carried Babasaheb’s vision into their everyday lives. From humble beginnings, this Ambedkarite spirit has expanded across all major states, uniting communities around the values of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and the teachings of Buddha Dhamma.
In 2025, this long-standing community effort came together under a common banner, formally named the Ambedkarite Global Federation (AGF). As an Ambedkarite in Australia, AGF reflects both our history and our renewed purpose: to strengthen Babasaheb’s vision of liberty, equality, and fraternity within the Australian community.
Guided by integrity, inclusivity, and social justice, AGF is committed to uplifting the oppressed with dignity and creating opportunities where our members especially women and youth, can grow intellectually, emotionally, culturally, and physically to reach their highest potential.
To build an enlightened, egalitarian society rooted in liberty, equality, fraternity, and justice by dismantling caste-based and other forms of discrimination, empowering marginalized communities through education and advocacy, and fostering communal harmony through the teachings of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Navayana Buddhism. We aim to build a society of confident, capable, and compassionate citizens.
T he key objective of AGF is to create a fair, inclusive, and values-driven community for Ambedkarites and Indian Buddhists in Australia. We strive to ensure that every Ambedkarite, whether in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth, or other cities feels connected, supported, and empowered.
Our aim is to provide platforms where expats and local communities can engage meaningfully, build networks of trust, and grow together. By fostering cultural exchange, celebrating Babasaheb’s legacy, and promoting community-driven initiatives, we help Ambedkarites in Australia not only preserve their identity but also thrive in the broader multicultural society.
Guided by principles of selflessness, courage, respect, integrity, compassion, excellence, trust, and brotherhood, AGF endeavours to positively impact Australian society. Our objective is to empower individuals—especially youth, women, and students, so that they can contribute confidently to both the Ambedkarite movement and the wider community.
